About Dante Alighieri Society Sydney

The Dante Alighieri Society Sydney is a historic Italian culture association. It’s also Australia’s oldest and most prestigious institute offering private Italian and piano lessons, with its own rich and remarkable history. It was founded in 1896 by Dr. Tommaso Henry Fiaschi, one of the most illustrious Italian migrants to Australia, and is one of over 460 operating internationally. Today it’s run by a group of professionals coming from different fields, all with the same passion for Italy’s extraordinary culture.

The first Dante Alighieri Society was founded in Rome in 1889 by Nobel prize-winning poet Giosuè Carducci. The Society promotes the appreciation and understanding of Italian language and culture worldwide.
