About Morgagni Medical Society of New York

The Morgagni Medical Society was founded in 1890 and was named after the most famous Clinical Pathologist of the 18th century Giovanni Battista Morgagni. The Society was founded as an organization to foster the professional, intellectual and economic development of the Italo-American physicians who were struggling to establish themselves in a less than congenial and welcoming environment for the descendants of new immigrants to this country at the turn of the 19th century.

It has continued this tradition of intellectual, professional and social interaction among physicians of Italian heritage for more than one hundred years with four dinner meetings and informative lectures at famous New York City restaurants and social clubs.

We strive to continue the tradition of helping future generations by sponsoring an annual medical school scholarship in conjunction with The Columbus Citizen's Foundation.
